Tabs

Tabs are used to organize Fields according to their purpose and relevance.  There is no limit to the number of Tabs that can be created for a Trackor® Type.  For existing Tabs, use the View OptionsFilters, and the Quick Search narrows the results in the Application Grid.

In order for a Field to be selected in the View Options of the Trackor Browser, it must be first assigned to a Tab.

Field Search & Sort

Search and sorting by Field Label are possible in simple display mode (only the label is displayed) and by Field name in extended mode (both field name and label are displayed).

  1. In the mode when both the label and the field name are displayed in the record list, the field name is displayed above the label.

2. If the field displays only a label, the entries in the list are sorted by label. If both name and label are displayed, records are sorted by field name.

Drill-Down with Trackor Selector

When a  Field is a Trackor Selector datatype and used on a Tab, the user will be able to see other related Fields from the unrelated Trackor Type.

For example, when the user builds a Trackor Type called “Contracts” and sets up a Trackor Selector Field called “Company Legal Name” that selects from a Trackor Type called “Vendor”.  If the "Company Legal Name" Field is placed on the Tab, the user will also be able to place other the other Fields from the Vendor Trackor Type, e.g., Tax ID, Address 1, City, State, Zip, etc.

Required Fields by Tab

This feature allows fields to be required, based on the Tab in which they appear. The current ‘Mandatory’ checkbox in the Field setting will enforce the field to be required in all tabs. The ‘Required by Tab’ setting is enabled in the Tab Designer as a setting of the field. The switch can be enabled (see screenshot and video) on the form editor. In the Tab Designer, a blue asterisk will be displayed along with the fields that are ‘Required by Tab’.  A black asterisk will be displayed next to the field name in the specific Tab in which the field will be required.

The ‘Required by Tab’ feature will be effective only in Config Form, Task Form, and WF Form where there are tabs. The Grid Editor, Grid Row Editor, API, Rules, and Excel still use the ‘Mandatory’ option value from the Admin Field level. If a field is set as ‘Mandatory’ on the Admin Field form, the ‘Required by Tab’ option will not be available in Tab Designer.

The same field can have different Required option values for different tabs. In case a field is presented on multiple tabs, we use the following rules in submitting:

  1. If only a single tab is loaded and active then we use the Required value configured on the Admin Tab level. In case a field is required on Admin Tab, the user won't be able to save a form until the field is populated.

  2. If a field is required for Tab1 and optional for Tab2, we demand the value based on which tab is active. If Tab1 is active then field value is required, if Tab2 is active then field value is optional and the user can submit the form leaving the field empty.
