Report Generation

To get started with creating a dashboard, use the Report Wizard to build the SQL that will capture the data that you want to include on a Dashboard. To create a Report using the Report Wizard, navigate to the Configure Reports page and click the Report Wizard Icon.

Once the report has finished running you will need to open Report detail by clicking on the Report ID link. Then open the SQL tab and copy the entire SQL query.

Dashboards are powered by a SQL Statement. Administrators can also write their own SQL queries to be used for the Dashboards.

Dashboards may also be created by copying the SQL of a Trackor Browser Grid and then pasting it into the General Info Tab for the Dashboard.

Adding a Dashboard from a Grid

To use this feature, the user will select Create Dashboard.

The Add Dashboard form displays with auto-generated SQL to create a dashboard. The user will enter a Dashboard Name, if desired, enter a Description, and click OK.

A new dashboard and dashlet will open in a new browser tab. The dashlet will use the first column of the grid as the X-axis, use the second column of the grid as the Y-axis, and open in edit mode. The user can make edits from here.

Define URL for dashboard data groups

We now have the ability to provide URLs in Dasbhoard (chart labels and table values) by using package functions - get_trackor_edit_url, get_task_edit_url, etc. To support hyperlink for data set column, additional column with same name + "_url" suffix should be added to the SQL and be populated using one of the package functions. Clicking on the link will bring up the related Trackor form in a separate window.

To support hyperlink for data set column, additional column with same name + "_url" suffix should be added to the SQL, it should contain hyperlink to be used in Dashboard. Following functions from pkg_rpt package may be useful

Chart Types

Chart Type

Definition

Area Chart

An area chart or area graph displays graphically quantitative data. It is based on the line chart. The area between axis and line is commonly emphasized with colors, textures and hatching. Commonly one compares with an area chart two or more quantities

Bar Chart

bar chart or bar graph is a chart or graph that presents categorical data with rectangular bars with heights or lengths proportional to the values that they represent. The bars can be plotted vertically or horizontally. A vertical bar chart is sometimes called a line graph.

A bar graph shows comparisons among discrete categories. One axis of the chart shows the specific categories being compared, and the other axis represents a measured value. Some bar graphs present bars clustered in groups of more than one, showing the values of more than one measured variable.

Column Chart

column chart is a graphic representation of data. Column charts display vertical bars going across the chart horizontally, with the values axis being displayed on the left side of the chart.

Line Chart

line chart or line graph is a type of chart that displays information as a series of data points called 'markers' connected by straight line segments. It is a basic type of chart common in many fields. ... In these cases, they are known as run charts.

Pie Chart

pie chart (or a circle chart) is a circular statistical graphic which is divided into slices to illustrate numerical proportion. In a pie chart, the arc length of each slice (and consequently its central angle and area), is proportional to the quantity it represents. While it is named for its resemblance to a pie that has been sliced, there are variations on the way it can be presented.

Spline Chart

Spline charts are a specialized form of line charts that display smooth curves through the different data points. Spline charts can be used for plotting data that requires the usage of curve-fitting e.g., an impulse-response chart, a product life cycle chart, etc.

Waterfall Chart

Waterfall chart type is now available as an option when users select Field Options. Currently supported chart types are Area, Bar, Column, Line, Pie, Spline, and Waterfall.

Donut Chart

A donut chart has the same properties as the pie chart but has a circle space in the center.

Solid Gauge

A Solid Gauge chart highlights a single value and presents in a solid, semi-circle format. The color is determined by the customized ranges set for the chart.

Gauge with Scale

A Gauge with Scale chart highlights a single value and presents in a semi-circle format with a customized set of ranges.

Charts showing Date Pairs

You now have the ability to create Dashboards that can show date pairs. Date Pairs are identified in the Dashboard SQL using a common name and trailing _START and _FINISH. For example, aliases ‘CaseDate_START’ and ‘CaseDate_FINISH’ for date fields will be treated as a Range Field ‘CaseDate’ in the Dashlet. You have the option of adding multiple date pairs to your dashlets. Each bar in the chart below spans between the start and end date pair.

Methods of Calculation

Count Type

Definition

Average

An average is a middle or Mean value.

Sum

If numbers are added sequentially from left to right, any intermediate result is a partial sum, prefix sum, or running total of the summation.

Maximum

MAX finds the highest value in the collating sequence.

Minimum

MIN finds the value that is lowest in the sort sequence.

Count

Returns the number of items in a group. This includes NULL values and duplicates.

Distinct

Evaluates expression for each row in a group and returns the number of unique, non-null values.

Count All

Evaluates expression for each row in a group and returns the number of non-null values.

Admins are able to choose if decimals are required and how many places are allowed.

Working with a Timeline

Timeline charts are only permitted when using start and finish dates in the SQL data to build the dashboard. If there is no start date or finish date in the date range, then the timeline will not be built for this record. If the start date exceeds the finish date, then the finish date will be taken as the start date.

Drill Down Options

Drill Down option is only available on Trackor Selector fields.

Users may drill down to specific data in the dashlets. Click on the Options button,  within the dashlet. Next, choose Options  command. The Dashlet Options window will appear. Users are able to make drill down choices.
