Trackor Configurations

This guide outlines essential steps for configuring and managing Trackor Types within the Vizion Platform. It focuses on adding fields, building user-friendly tabs, and creating unique configurations to streamline your data management processes.

From the initial setup to arranging fields in page layout, this guide walks you through each phase. We also cover additional functionalities like integrating child Trackor tabs, establishing external tabs, and setting up global views and filters, each of which enhance user interaction and can be customized based on your needs.

Add Fields

Now that there is easy access to each Trackor Type via the Menu, we will work on adding fields. We'll also populate each Trackor Type with basic fields in the General Info Tab to get the groundwork in place.

See detailed documentation about field creation on the User Guide. https://onevizion.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/USER/pages/277349151

Case Study: Fields

Steps to Add Fields

Steps to Add Fields

1

Navigate to the Trackor Type. For the example, we will start with the Equipment Master Trackor.

2

Add one test record.

This will give you something to work with and adjust as you create and add fields.

Add Test Record Video

3

Open the test record, then click on the tab name to open the Edit Tab Page.

Open Edit Tab Video

4

Remove the Class field if its not required.

5

Click Create Field (which says Add Field if you hover over it.)

Key details needed when creating a field:

  • Trackor Type selected from drop down.

  • Data Type for the field (e.g. Text, Drop Down, E-File, etc.)

  • Field Label which is the friendly name users will see in the application.

  • Field Name the auto-generated database name based on the Field Label. This should not be changed once the field has been created.

  • You can also select from a list of attributes, such as Mandatory, Lockable, Read Only, etc.

6

Create a Drop-Down Field: A drop-down field requires a V-Table for the list of drop-down values. From the Add Field screen:

  • Click the ellipsis next to Table Name, available after selecting Drop-Down as Field Type.

  • Add a Table, name it, and click Apply.

  • Navigate to the Dynamic VTable Values tab and Add values.

  • Click OK through the tabs to get back to the Edit Tab view. Add the Drop-Down to the Tab and click OK.

7

Drag & drop to arrange on the page with basic formatting.  Finalize formatting to look nicer at a later step once more fields and functionality are added.

Configure Tabs

The tab is an important part of the Vizion platform. The visual layout of a tab of data significantly impacts a user's experience and interaction with the information. This includes impacts to usability and engagement, error reduction, and user decision making.

We will start with laying out the fields we created in the last section. Let’s keep in mind the check-out and check-in process and put the fields in a logical layout to support it, including grouping the fields into sections. We also want to keep key identifying information at the top of the tab.

See detailed documentation about Tabs on the User Guide: https://onevizion.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/USER/pages/278331393

Case Study: Tabs

By default, whenever a Trackor Type is created, a General Info Tab will also be created with only the Trackor key and Class assigned to it.

After the initial setup of a Trackor Type, you can start to create Fields and assign them to the General Info tab of your Trackor Type. This was explored in parthttps://onevizion.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/USER/pages/3068264480/Trackor+Configurations#Add-Fields above.

In this section, we will:

  • Further explore the features of managing content on the General Info tab.

  • Detail how additional Configured Tabs can be created.

Assumption: At this point, we assume that we have already created the necessary Fields to be assigned to the Tab(s).

Assigning Fields to Tabs

Assigning Fields to Tabs

1

For this example, let’s build out the General Info tab of the newly created Home Location Trackor Type.

  • Using the newly created Menu, navigate to the Trackor Type Menu Item and click on it.

  • If no Trackor Records exist in your grid, click Add (otherwise, you could click on a Trackor Record ID).

  • From the General Info tab, click on the Tab Name at the top of your screen. For Admin Users, this is a shortcut in order to access the Edit Tab window.

  • The Edit Tab window opens. Maximize or enlarging this window helps when updating your Tab.

We are now ready to start editing the General Info tab of the Home Location Trackor Type.

2

From the Edit Tab window, you will find your Trackor Type related Fields available to pick from.

Only Fields that have not yet been assigned to this Tab will be available to select from on the left hand list.

Using the drag & drop method, select fields from the left-side list and place them on the Tab in order to arrange them.

In this case, the Home Location Class (Xitor_Class) field will not be utilized, so we can click on the trash can icon when selecting this field to remove the field from the Tab.

This action will only unpublish the field from the Tab. A Field you remove from a Tab will be available to select from again. This action will not delete the field.

After making your updates, press Apply to commit your changes, or OK which will save and close the window.

3

Let’s further develop our Tab in order to improve the experience for End Users.

  • Changing Field Widths.

  • Using Markups to add Text Labels, Splitters and Blank Lines.

Create a New Configured Tab

In some business cases, you might need to create new Tab in addition to the default General Info Tab on your Trackor Type. This new Tab must be given a unique name. After its creation, carefully select and assign the appropriate Fields to this Tab, per the instructions above. This step ensures that your Trackor Type is tailored to meet the specific requirements of your business operations.

Case Study: New Configured Tab

For the Equipment Checkout App, we will create a new Tab called Repair Portal as another Tab for the Asset Items Trackor Type page,

Steps to create a New Tab

Steps to create a New Tab

1

Click on the ID (Xitor_Key) representing your Trackor Type (e.g.: Asset ID).

2

Click on the Applet Name, Asset Items in this example.

  • The Applet was automatically created at the time the Trackor Type was created.

3

Click on the tab named Tabs.

Click on Create Tab.

Enter your Label. Note that Name will automatically update.

4

Assign Fields to your new Tab, per the instructions above. Press OK.

5

Your new Tab will now be in the Tabs list. Select your new Tab and place on the right. Press OK.

  • This action will publish your new Tab and make it available to see from an end User perspective when reviewing a Trackor Record.

6

Close and re-open the Trackor Record, and the the new Tab is visible. Click on the Tab to see assigned fields.

For more information on Tabs and Applets, please review the User Guide Page:

Child Trackor Tab - Trackor Container

In some cases when you open the details of a Trackor Record you may want to view child level Trackor Type Records that are related to a Trackor ID. To do this, the Vizion Platform supports adding a Trackor Container Tab, which contains Trackor Type data in Tab form and limited to only records that are children of the selected Trackor Record.

Case Study: Child Trackor Tab

For the Equipment Checkout App, it would be helpful to be able to see and access the child Transaction Trackor Records from the Asset level. Check out the video to see the example Child Trackor Tab.

Publish a Child Trackor Tab

Publish a Child Trackor Tab

1

From the “Asset Items” page, click on an “Asset ID” existing record.

2

Click on the Applet Name, Asset Items in this example.

3

Click on the tab named Tabs.

4

Select the Trackor Container that represents your Child Related Trackor. In this case Transaction.

  • Available selections will be based on how you have configured your Trackor Relations in the Trackor Tree.

5

Move your selected Trackor Container to the right side and position within other published Tabs.

6

Press OK to publish the Tab, save your changes, and close the window.

7

Close and re-open the Trackor Record, and the the new Transaction Tab is visible.

  • The number displayed on the right side of the tab reflects the number of unique child records within your Asset ID.

Create an External Tab

External Tabs: Can be used to display loosely related information or interact with external systems. They can display the records associated with a trackor record by selecting a Trackor Record in a “Trackor Selector” field.

Case Study: External Tab

In this example, there is no direct parent/child relationship between the Equipment Master and Asset Items Trackors (in the Trackor Tree), but Equipment Master Trackor Records are assigned to Asset IDs via Trackor Selector Fields.

Goal: See a Tab under each Equipment Master item that lists all Asset ID Trackor Records which share a common Equipment Master ID.

Understanding the Equipment to Asset Link

1

Before we create our External Tab, let’s get familiar with the components in the Equipment Master and Asset Items Trackor Types we will reference.

2

The Equipment Master Trackor Type has a key value field of Equipment ID. This value is auto-generated as defined in the Trackor Type setup.

3

On the Asset Items Trackor page, below the Asset ID (key value) on the General Info tab, there is a field called Master Equipment. This an Asset attribute field. The field’s Data Type is Trackor Selector.

This particular Trackor Selector field has been configured to display an Equipment ID based on the records found on the Equipment Master Trackor page.

This approach of using a Trackor Selector field is a more precise alternative to just entering a values into an open text field.

4

Having a Trackor Selector field representing the Equipment Master as an attribute on the Asset Items Trackor loosely affiliates the Key Value of the Equipment Master to our Asset ID record.

We can further leverage this relationship when building our External Tab with SQL Logic.

External Tab Creation Steps

External Tab Creation Steps

1

Now with familiarity of our “loose relation” between the Equipment Master and Asset ID via the Trackor Selector field, let’s create our External Tab.

2

On the Menu, navigate to Dev Center > Design Applications > External Tabs.

The screen will open the External Tabs page.

3

Press Add.

Enter a Tab Name and Tab Label. Typically these values are the same. Your Tab Name must be unique to the system.

4

Enter your URL: The URL represents the page you would like to display.

Example URL: /grid/SimpleGrid.do?ModuleName=TRACKOR_BROWSER&IsPopup=1&HideNav=0&HideBtns=1&gridIdx=0&curTtid=100008888&IsOnTab=1

  • Note: In blue, this number reflects the Trackor Type ID representing the Asset Item level. This unique number can be found on the Trackor Types page.

5

Select the Trackor Type.

  • Case Study = Equipment Master

  • We intend for this External Tab to be an attribute of the Equipment Master Trackor Type level and display Asset item records.

  • Enter a “Description” to explain the purpose of this tab.

6

Press Apply to save and continue.

7

Click on the Parameters Tab and press Add.

8

Enter a URL Param name.

Ex: filterPreFill

This is the name stored internally in the database. Should be a descriptive name, recognizable to users.

9

Enter your SQL Statement to apply filter criteria.

For this example, we would like to return Asset Items to our Equipment Master External Tab when the Asset ID’s Master Equipment Selector Field value is equal to the Equipment Master’s Equipment ID.

10

Example SQL:

select util.EscapeUrlParam('[{"filterParam":"d_100008466_1000073573","filterOperator":"=", "filterValue":"'||:key_value||'"}]')
from dual

The Blue Text above represents the Asset items Trackor Type.

The Red Text represents the Field ID of the Asset level Trackor Selector field EC-AI:Master Equipment.

11

Press OK to add your Parameter.

Press OK on the next window to create the External Tab.

12

Side Note: How to find the Field ID number for my SQL?

As an Admin User from the Asset Items page, navigate to the Trackor Selector field and click on the Field Label to open Field Info.

The URL in the window will reflect the field's ID number. See video.

13

Assign the External Tab to the Applet

After your External Tab has been created, assign the Tab to the Applet in the same manner as a above for Configured Tab or Trackor Container Tab.

Video: Demonstrates assigning the new External Tab called Asset Items to the Equipment Master Trackor Type Applet. After the Tab is assigned, you will see it appear after a record refresh.

Create Global View and Filter for Grids

While using the Vizion Platform, users can select Views and Filters in order to access the data they need. This powerful feature of the platform allows the combining of fields from multiple related Trackor Types into the same grid View providing a seamless integration of data for a business. Global Views and Filters are set up administrators for any user.

All pages include a Global View called General Info (G:General Info) which includes all of the fields on the General Info Tab for the page. Any changes the Administrator makes to the Gen Info Tab are automatically seen in the G:General Info View.

Case Study: Global View and Filter

In the video below for the Equipment Checkout App, on the Asset Trackor Type, we create a new Global View to make the equipment photo more prominent and a Global Filter to show “Available” Status Assets.
